She silently askes me if she is going to die.
All I can do is nod my head.
The sword had pierced through her armor and gone clean though her body.
Her attacker lay dead, just feet away from us.
He was slain, not by me, but by a friendly arrow that had missed its target.
Rain begins to fall.
I cannot save her.
My tears mix with the rain and sweat.
In her last moments she won't see me cry for her.
She won't see me cry for the love we had shared these past fifteen years.
She closes her eyes....My fear returns.
I stand. The raging battle I face slowly calls my name.
I pick up her sword and raise my own.
